When an old factory becomes a Google office, the rules of security change.
Google’s new Kitchener office wasn’t built from scratch. Instead, it was created inside a repurposed manufacturing facility — a bold decision that preserved history but introduced serious technical challenges.
Thick concrete walls, legacy infrastructure, and limited pathways for cabling pushed our team to rethink standard approaches. At the same time, Google’s reuse-first design philosophy meant that every system had to integrate seamlessly with the building’s preserved elements.
For a company like Google, the bar is non-negotiable. Their offices cannot afford downtime, vulnerabilities, or technical compromises. Every piece of infrastructure — from video surveillance to card access — had to perform flawlessly.
Over six months, Point Blanc delivered:
• a high-speed, future-proof data cabling network
• advanced ip video surveillance for comprehensive visibility
• integrated card access control aligned with Google’s security protocols
• a modern burglar alarm system with centralized monitoring
The outcome: a secure, connected workplace that reflects Google’s innovation standards while respecting the architectural character of Kitchener’s industrial past.
This project shows how Point Blanc thrives in complex environments — turning technical obstacles into future-ready solutions.
